Obituary

Charles D. "Chuck" Adcock, 74, from Oregon, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born July 24, 1947, to Charles and Jeanette Adcock. A 1965 graduate of Waite High School, Chuck entered the Air Force shortly thereafter, eventually serving in the Vietnam War. In the years after the war, Chuck worked for the Shipyards, Girkins Electric, AP Parts, Starr Lumber and then First Solar before his retirement in 2006. Chuck wore many hats in his 74 years -- Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend, and Husband. Chuck married the love of his life, Sandy, on July 14, 1984. Sandy, the manager of Don's Drive-In, accidentally swept over his feet with the mop and, as they say, the rest is history. Chuck's unconditional love has blessed their blended family of 8 children, 22 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren ever since. Chuck sure cherished his classic cars, woodworking, and fishing, but his greatest passion was certainly his family. The most selfless of men, story after story recollects the patience, care, and support Chuck provided to those he loved. From jump-starting cars in the middle of snowstorms, to building baby cradles and wooden toy-chests for his grandchildren to, later in life, making quilts and knitting winter hats for everyone to enjoy, Chuck would do anything for you. You never heard a complaint, you never heard a raised voice -- you were only greeted with his soft tone and understanding heart. In his retirement, Chuck enjoyed his projects out in the garage and being a part of the Marmon Club, traveling across the country to Marmon Muster gatherings with good friends Bill and Linda Lorenzen. Chuck and Bill also had their yearly scrap meet trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania. In his later years, Chuck and Sandy took up hobbies such as quilting and canning, but nothing brought him as much joy as sitting back in his recliner with fur-babies Beauty and Piglet on his lap. A devout Catholic, Chuck belonged to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, where he served as a Greeter for Sunday Mass and assisted Sandy with her ministries. Chuck was even able to volunteer his woodworking skills when he took it upon himself to build a temporary altar while Church renovations were being completed. Chuck is survived by his partner in life and loving wife of 37 years, Sandy (Szmania) Adcock; 8 children, Julie (Tim) Sigurdson, David (Kim) Adcock, April (Jeff) Workman, Roy Hall, Colleen (Dave) Churchill, Robbie Hall, and Ryan (Amy) Hall; 22 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Phyllis Adcock and Bonnie Brown and many beloved nieces and nephews. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jeanette Adcock, sister Francis Grames; daughter Aimee Adcock.; daughter-in-law Tammy Yanke-Hall; and brother-in-law Kenny Brown. Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.., where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m., where visitation will be held an hour prior. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. We are all so thankful to have had Chuck in our lives. To look up to for inspiration, to turn to for encouragement, and to always love and cherish. Chuck's kind soul and gentle smile will remain in our hearts forever.
