Obituary

Charles C. "Chuck" Adkins, 90, of Genoa, Ohio, and formerly of Walbridge, passed away May 12, 2009, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. He was born January 19, 1919, in Walbridge, Ohio, to Clifford J. and Angela (Traver) Adkins. During WW II, he served in the US Army 37th division of Ohio. Charles served as administrator for the village of Walbridge, retiring in 1981. In addition, he was employed with Hirzel Canning Company and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member and served on the property board of St. Mark Lutheran Church and with his guidance, was able to install an elevator. He also served as a member of the Walbridge Lake Fire Department. He is survived by his children, Debbie Adkins of Cincinnati, OH, Deanna Adkins, of Louisville, KY, Darlene (Michael) Merritt of Slocomb, AL, Pam (Larry) Howison of Alpena, MI; grandchildren, Tonya (Tony) Saunders, Tabatha Marshall, Angela (Shane) Lee, Shan (Shane) Ash, Alex, Lindsey, and Nicholas Howison and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecil (Liz) Adkins, and Donald (Ruth) Adkins; sister, Dorothy Sebring; cousin, Fred Thomasson; many nieces and nephews. Also survived by children of Marilyn Adkins, Kay Ann and Warren Byington and family, Jeanne and Tim Mix and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Kenneth; former wife, Nell; devoted companion, Marilyn Adkins; sisters, Elizabeth Henton, June Kriescher, and grandson, Larry Howison III. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, on Thursday, May 14th from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Mark Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank Charles's niece, Holly for her care and compassion. Visitation: Thursday, 2:00 8:00 p.m. Services: Friday, 10:00 a.m. Interment: Lake Township Cemetery
