Charles Ellis, 75, of Northwood, OH went to be with our Lord after a long illness. He was born December 11, 1929 to Andrew and Leona Ellis in Toledo. Chuck attended Navarre School and graduated from Waite High School. He worked for the former New York Central, Penn Central and ConRail railroads for 43 years before retiring. Chuck enjoyed working in his yard, traveling and fishing. Once on a trip to Hawaii he caught a 450 lb. blue marlin off the Kona coast. He was a very kind and generous man to all his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Theresa; sons, Edward (Linda) Ellis, Oregon, OH and Mark (Cindy) Ellis, Northwood, OH; 5 wonderful grandchildren, Edward, Jennifer, Michael and twins, Nathan and Neal Ellis; 2 beautiful great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Nina; brother, Ralph (Madeline) Ellis; half-sister, Pat Olers, Anna TX; numerous loving and caring nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Betty and Claire Kocan and special and devoted friend, Cathy Brown. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Donna Thomas and stepbrother, Jerome Turner.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave. on Thursday from 2-9 pm with scripture services at 7 pm. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 and proceed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Leyland officiating. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. A special thank you to the Manor at Perrysburg and to all who cared for him there over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Bazelay and Associates, Hospice of NW Ohio; nurses, Sharon Benedict and Susan Smith and all the special aides and respite care workers.
