Charles E. Smoot, 64, passed away on June 5, 2011 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on May 14, 1947 in Logan, West Virginia to Charles and Ruby (Chapman) Smoot. Charles served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War before working in the Maintenance Department at Chrysler Jeep for 36 years. He was a proud member of AA for 26 years.
Charles is survived by his son, Mark Smoot; daughter, Nora Smoot; grandchildren, Cassandra, Christopher, D.J., Marcus, Charles, Brianna; great grandchild, Amyah; parents, Charles and Ruby Smoot; siblings, Glenna (Jim) Vinet, Connie (Jan) Monk, Dave Smoot, Kenny (Mary) Smoot, Mark Smoot, Marcella Amerson, Tammy Frampton, Joyce Smoot; special friend, Annie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie; son, Charles E. Smoot, Jr.; siblings, Christine Smoot, Richard Smoot, Terry Smoot, Patty Bleim.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
