Charles Guthrie, 85, of Millbury, Ohio, formerly of Athens, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Heartland of Oregon. He was born April 23, 1933 to Forest and Mary (Goff) Guthrie. Charles was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He was active for 4 years and served in the 180th Ohio Air National Guard for 17.5 years. He worked in the installation division for Western, AT&T and Lucent for over 41 years, before retiring in 1995. Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier years.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Guthrie; children, Steven (Mimi Reinhard) Guthrie and Bret (Connie) Guthrie; and grandchildren, Lauren, Evan and Wyatt Guthrie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Guthrie.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Graveside services will take place at Alexander Cemetery in Athens, Ohio on Saturday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Wounded Warrior Project.
