Charles T. Kassay, 72, passed away on March 02, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 20, 1938 in North Tonawanda, NY to Charles and Helen (Rogers) Kassay. Charles was a veteran of the Army and then worked as a machinist at North Star Steel until retirement in 1998. During the summers, Charles worked for the Put-In-Bay Jet Express. He also enjoyed his time with family and friends, fishing, being outdoors and spending time at Vista Villa in Port Clinton.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sharon; son, Lee (Donna) Kassay; daughter, Candee (Joe) Lang; step-daughters, Tammy Rikard, Amy Gilmore; sister, Carol (Kenny) Howard; brother, Roger Kassay; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his little pal, Winston. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Greg Gilmore.
Friends may call at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 1-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Charles'™s memory can be made to Hospice at Memorial Hospital, 430 S.
