Obituary

Charles O. Meyer, 78, a life long resident of Oregon, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Charles was born in Toledo, Ohio, on May 1, 1927, to Otto and Thelma (Miller) Meyer. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Meyer was employed with the Lucas County Engineers for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Charles was a life member of Christ Dunberger American Legion Post #537 where he served in the post's Honor Guard. He was a faithful member of First St. John Lutheran Church and a regular volunteer at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. His life passions included hunting, fishing and gardening. Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Theresa; step-son, Dennis (Ann) Kersten; sisters, Irene Dusseau and Linda (Jerry) Curran; brother, Fritz (Donna) Ackerman. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Brian (Jodi) Kersten, Brad (Sara) Kersten, Kevin (Molly) Kersten, Ann Marie (Nick) Bates; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Avenue, with American Legion services held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Street, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. Memorial contributions in Mr. Meyer's memory may be made to either First St. John Lutheran Church or Christ Dunberger American Legion Post. Visitation: Visitation Times 2-9 PM Friday Oregon Chapel
