Charles Nelson Pogan, 74, of Catawba Island, Port Clinton, Ohio and formerly of Vermilion, Bowling Green and Toledo, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born in Los Angeles on June 22, 1933, to Charles and Mae Francis (Moehle) Pogan. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. Chuck was a new construction estimator for Geo. L. Freeman & Co., retired as property manager of Wildwood Associates and Danberry Real Estate.
Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years, Dorothy "D.J." Pogan; children, Pamela (Paul Michael) Stager, Charles Kent Pogan, Lori (John) Ryan, Stephen (Debra Jo) Pogan; grandchildren, Aprill (Denny) Porter, Jaime Swigart, Amy White, Melissa Harris, Michael Pogan, Andrew Stager, Brian Pogan, Jeremy Pogan, Donald Pogan; step grandchildren, Frank and Jennifer Mesagna; 5 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren; brother, Keith (Sharon) Pogan. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Johnston.
A Memorial service, conducted by Rev. Mayberry, of Stein Hospice, will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday at 12 noon and where family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Chuck's name are asked to consider the Port Clinton Humane Society, or Vineyard Go-getters, or Vineyard Grape-Bunch. There will also be a private Memorial service at the Vineyard on Catawba on Wednesday August 8.
