Charles F. Raufer, 78, of Oregon, passed away on October 20, 2016 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Carl and Alice (Raker) Raufer. Charles served in the National Guard and worked for Jeep in the sheet metal and maintenance departments. He loved woodworking and crafts. Charles was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he enjoyed playing Dartball and was an active volunteer as well as at St. Louis Helping Hands. He was loved by many and will always be remembered as "The Candy Man".
Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Lisa (Casey) Raufer-Pickard, John (Jill) Raufer; sister, Laura (Jim) Harris, step-children, Robert (Julie) Rice, Sandra (Tom) McElfresh, Brenda (Dennis) Holdren, Constance, Kenneth (Renetta), Stephen (Helen), Randall (Pamela), Andrew "Scott" (Jane) Jacob; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Henrietta Materni, Julie Petrick; previous wife, Ella.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Ave. Ext. beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
