Obituary

Charles "Charlie" K. Schroeder Sunset and Evening Star And one clear call for me And may there be no mourning at the barrier I put out to sea Charles K. Schroeder, 86, of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in St. Charles Hospital. Charlie was born in Oak Harbor on August 30, 1916 to William and Ethel (Ferris) Schroeder. On December 21, 1944, Charlie married Betty Henningsen. Charlie first worked at Vorce motor sales at Chevy Pontiac. He then was a member of the Navy Air Corp. for almost four years. After returning from the war Charlie took a job with Cashen Zwicker Motor Sales, Chrysler Plymouth International Trucks. He then worked for Zwicker Ford and finally Genoa Motor Ford. Charlie was the President of Genoa Investments and also developed Lathams Super Market. He was the owner of Wishy-Washy Car Wash until 1985. Charlie then traveled extensively with his wife, Betty, to Europe, the Caribbean and Alaska. Charlie was a Navy Veteran from WWII where he worked as an aviation mechanic. He also was a member of Dunberger American Legion Post, and a life long member of Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years; Betty, sons; Marty (Marta) Schroeder and David (Diana) Schroeder, grandchildren; Brian, Brandi, Nathan, Joe, Max, and Mason, and sister Thelma Willey. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; Leta, Geraldine, Bob, Harold, and Ted. Friends may call in the Eggleston Meinert Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury where visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 2 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 13, 2003 at Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Ave, Oregon, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. where family will greet friends one hour prior. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression in Charlie's memory are asked to consider Christ United Methodist Church.
