Charles E. Smoot, 86, of Oregon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2013 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born in Logan, West Virginia on December 21, 1926 to Dave and Nora (Burke) Smoot. Charles worked as a Conductor for CSX Railroad for 38 years before retiring in 1989. He loved playing pool and horseshoes. Charles loved Florida and spent the winter there for the last 28 years with his wife. His family lovingly referred to him as 'œChooch'.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ruby (Chapman); children, Glenna (Jimmy) Vinet, Connie (Jan) Monk, Kenny (Mary) Smoot, Dave Smoot, Marcella Amberson, Mark Smoot, Tammy (Chris) Frampton, Joyce Smoot; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; sister, Doris Vaughn; brother-in-law, Billy Lee Chapman; sister-in-law, Mabel Marie Sa. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Chuck, Terry, Richard, Christine, Patty; 16 siblings.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
