Chester J. Burkey returned to his Lord on September 24, 2012. Born on January 20, 1947, he graduated Sandusky High in 1965. Chester was a proud member of the United Transportation Union for over 42 years, serving as local president, retiring in 2007. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers. Chester is survived by his sister, nieces, nephews and scores of friends who treasured him. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Thursday and Friday September 27 amd 28 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place in the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in La Salle, Michigan. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
