Obituary

Chester A. Pieper, Sr., 73, of Graytown, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at Mercy St. Charles Hospital on Friday, June 6, 2014. Chet was born on August 10, 1940 in Millbury, Ohio to William and Thelma (St. John) Pieper. He was a machine operator at Champion Spark Plug for 28 years prior to his retirement. Chet was a lifelong member of St. Peter'™s United Church of Christ, Millbury, where he was on the men'™s dartball league. He was also a lifetime member of the Millbury Baseball Association. He coached little league baseball for many years and also played softball, pitching a no hitter. Chet was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Oquawka, IL. On August 25, 1962 he married Alice Watson and together they raised their six children; Melanie (Pat) Utter David (Regina) Pieper, Tamara (Daryl Garrett) DuPont, Chester 'œChet' (Dawn) Pieper Jr, Rebecca Pieper-Wells, Patricia (Scott) Sundermeier; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Surviving are his brothers, William, Richard, Melvin Pieper; sisters, Delores Zernhel, Thelma Jacob, Alma Mahaffey, Carole Jacob, Darlene Braddock. Chet was preceded in death by his parents,; daughters Mel and Becky; brothers, Herman, Fred, and Donald Pieper. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-9 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury and where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
