Christine E. Shaffer, 39, of Millbury, was taken by God unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3, 2009. She was born July 7, 1969 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Lyle and Doris Ann (Pope) Shaffer. Christine was a 1987 graduate of Eastwood High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Toledo. Christine was an advertising assistant for the Toledo Blade for 13 years. She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association, the Toledo Humane Society and many other activities in the community. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and was active in the Sunday School there. Christine wanted to "save the world" and was known by her family and friends as having the "biggest heart". Throughout her life she strived to grow both in faith and belief in her Lord.
Christine is survived by her sisters, Carol Lambrecht, Sandra Kurfess, and Sharon (Dennis) Emch; brother, Kevin (Kim) Shaffer; loving friend, Terry Lengel; nieces, Dawn Walker, Jennifer Halterman, Angela Tucholski, Joei Shaffer, and Renae Lambrecht; nephews, Neal Bomeli and Ryan Kurfess; special great nieces and nephews, Nicole, Kayla, Zach, Kali, Carter, Riley, Miranda, Jacob, Donny, Maggie, Jenisis, Josalyn; and many special friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2 to 9 pm at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral home at 440 S. Coy Rd. Oregon, Ohio. Funeral Services will be conducted in Faith United Methodist Church, 3415 Starr Ave., Oregon, Ohio on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 am. Interment services will be held in Scotch Ridge Cemetery on Friday at 3:00 pm. Memorial contributions in Christine's name can be made to The Toledo Humane Society or Faith United Methodist Church.
