Obituary

Clarence E. 'œDiz' Dissett, 85, of Millbury, passed away, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Kingston Residence, Perrysburg. He was born on September 7, 1926 to Henry and Alice (Overmeyer) Dissett. On August 23, 1947, he married Bernadine Szmania. Clarence was a US Marine Corps veteran of WW II, receiving a Purple Heart. During the Battle of Koskhine Ridge in 1945, he was shot in the knee. After three weeks of recovery, he returned to battle with his unit, K-35. He was a 65 year member of Genoa American Legion Post 324. Clarence was employed with the US Postal Service for 40 years, as a letter carrier and Millbury Postmaster. He retired in 1987. Clarence enjoyed coaching baseball and traveling to Florida. Clarence is survived by his children, Carol (Ted) Halsey, Nancy (Neil) Whitehead, and Rick (Kathy) Dissett; grandchildren, Dana, Janet, Matthew, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bernadine, and sister, Ethel Thomas. Private graveside services will be held at Lake Township Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kingston Residence of Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their exceptional care and compassion. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or a charity of the donor'™s choice.
