Clarence Joseph Butch Sass Jr., 66, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on October 13, 2007 after a sudden illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 29, 1941 to Clarence Sr. and Clara (Rohaus) Sass. Joe was employed by the University of Toledo as a professor for 30 years at the College of Business. He also did consulting work, published textbooks and was the chairman of the Information System Operations Management Department. Joe's memberships include Clark Street United Methodist Church, the Masonic Paragon Lodge #788, Theta Chi Fraternity and the Waite High School Alumni Association. He was a PC enthusiast and was actively involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Lamb); children, Ronald R. (Jennifer), Kenneth J. Sass and Kristin M. (Scott) Fruth; grandsons, Andrew J. and Alex M. Fruth, and Joseph R. Sass; siblings, Robert (Mildred), Carl Sass and Doris Lezon. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.
Visitation will be held in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 2-9 p.m. with Lodge Services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Joe's memory are asked to consider the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Clark St. United Methodist Church.
