Clayton F. DeVaul, 83, of Northwood, OH, passed away from this life Monday,February 17, 2003 at St. Vincent/Mercy Medical Center. Clayton was born Nov. 3, 1919 in St. Joe, Ohio to William James and Blanche (Furnace) DeVaul. His mother died when he was two years of age.
Clayton retired from Dana Corporation in 1983 and was also employed at Driggs
Dairy from 1954 to 1963.
Clayton was a wonderful, loving family man and was especially proud of his
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great friend, role model, and
one of the most genuine good Christians you could ever hope to meet.
Clayton was an avid golfer having a hole-in-one on number 14 at Ottawa Park on
June 13, 1988. He was one of the original members of Echo Meadows Church of Christ,Oregon, Ohio.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 54 yrs., Dorothy; sons, Richard
(Nancie) DeVaul, Kenneth Mary) DeVaul; daughters Trudy DeVaul; Debbie (Mark)Kristie; Denise (Ron) Weaks; Tammy (Jeff) Winfrey; Tracy (Tom) Boisselle; grandchildren, Brooke and Nicole DeVaul, Ken Jr. (Janet) DeVaul, Renee (Doug) Cheney, Scott & Eric Kristie, Cori (Jason) Brown, Kristen & Craig Weaks, Andrew,
Austin & Alexa Boisselle; great-grandchildren, Janelle, Danae and Ken III DeVaul, and
Christopher Cheney. Also his best friend for over seventy years, Jim Thomas.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Vera Evonek, brother,
William J. DeVaul Jr. and step-mother Alice DeVaul.
Friends will be received from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Eggleston-Meinert
Funeral Home, Starr and Coy, Thursday February 20, 2003. Funeral services will be
11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2003 at Echo Meadows Church of Christ. Interment will
follow in Ottawa Hills emorial Park.
Clayton's family wishes to express their appreciation to all his friends for showing all their love and care for him. A special thanks to the people who came to his said in the Pharm parking lot the day he fell. In addition, we would like to thank the St.Charles emergency staff, the St. Vincent 5th Floor I.C.U., especially Cheryl and Nicole
for their care and comforting words in helping the family through this very difficult time.
