Clayton E. Groll, 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 21, 1920 to Fred and Lola (Tyler) Groll and graduated from Clay High School in 1939. Clayton served in the U.S. Army under General George Patton during WWII and was a purple heart recipient. He was employed as a glasscutter with LOF for 32 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Arthur Daly American Legion Post and Martin Luther Lutheran Church where he served on council and played dartball. Clayton also enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Surviving are his daughter, Karen (Don) Johnson; granddaughters, Jodi (Brian) Cummerow and Cheri Johnson; great-grand-children, Jordan and Mckenna Cummerow; sisters, Loretta Bowman and Joyce Jacobs. Clayton was preceded in death by parents; wife, Doris; daughter, Cheri Groll and 6 siblings. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with interment following in Willow Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Clayton's memory may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
