Obituary

Clifford Benjamin Fisher, 89 years young, went to be with the love of his life June 7, 2010. Cliff was born to Frank and Eva Fisher on July 12, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio and was the middle child out of thirteen children. He married Betty Temple on August 1, 1941 and they shared 67 wonderful years together before her passing in 2009. During WWII Cliff joined the Navy rather than wait to be drafted. During his enlistment he was a Seaman 1st Class and was stationed aboard the S.S. Charles J. Folger from 1943 until December 1945, when he returned home to his wife and first son. After returning, Cliff attended Macomber Vocational High School and obtained his Apprenticeship in Carpentry and built the family home where he and Betty raised their three sons. Although he did mostly residential work, he also worked on many of the buildings in downtown Toledo including Portside (now Imagination Station), the original OI Building, and the Fiberglass Tower, just to name a few; and was a proud member of Carpenters Local 1138. Cliff was an avid fisherman and spent most of his retirement on the lake going after the perfect Walleye and doing woodworking projects in his garage, most of which were given to family and friends. He also enjoyed trap shooting and won several trophies at competitions; volunteered with the Northwood Fire Department; and would play BINGO at the senior center with his brother-in-law Walt. Cliff loved sports and would watch and listen to baseball and football games alongside his wife Betty. He was quick to help a friend or family member with any project they had, from remodeling to working on boats. Cliff is preceded in death by his wife Betty; his parents Frank Sr. and Eva Fisher; his son Dennis; brothers Edward Fisher, Oran Fisher, Kenneth Fisher, Charles Fisher, Raymond Fisher, Cecil Fisher, James Fisher, and William Fisher; and sisters Ethel Bodie and Clover Shimmans. Left to cherish his memory are brother, Frank (Ruth) Fisher Jr., sister, June DeCant, brother-in-law, Walt Shimmans, son, Keith (Frankie) Fisher, son, Mark (Cindy) Fisher, Andrea Fisher, 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren as well as many cherished friends.
