Corey Joseph Carpenter, 27, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, January 25 surrounded by his loving family. Corey was a graduate of Clay High School (2004), where he played football and ran track. He worked at CSX railroad for four years. Corey loved the outdoors, especially the water. He went camping every chance he had, was an avid fisherman, and he was especially fond of his fishing trip to Marco Island last year with his family. Corey was easy-going and had a playful sense of humor; he always knew how to make a person smile. He was a wonderful uncle to his niece and nephews, a role model for many, and a faithful supporter of those he loved, including his unconditionally devoted dog, Zoey, who was the love of his life. Although Corey was with us for only a short time, we were lucky to have him in our lives. He will be forever missed.
Corey is survived by his mother, Cindy (Tate) Trace Lodzinski (Steve Lodzinski); father, Bruce Carpenter; sister, Carra Carpenter, Kaitlyn Trace; brothers, Preston and Bryce Carpenter; grandparents, Joseph and Roberta Tate, Jean Carpenter, Shirley Lodzinski and Virginia (Granny) Hughes; great grandmother, Rita Beauregard; nephews, Luke and Levi Beat; niece, Faith Beat; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Preston Carpenter, great grandparents Edward Beauregard Sr., Robert and Marie Tate; stepfather, Matthew Trace, who was surely waiting for him in heaven with a fishing pole. Corey'™s family would like to extend special thanks to Shaun and Brian Carter and their family for their unwavering support and friendship; Corey'™s close cousins, Katie Katich and Mark Fisher, for always being there for Corey; and to Corey'™s Aunt Sue, Aunt Liz, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Tom and cousin Nikki Screptock for their warm and loving care. A special thank you is also extended to the nurses at St. Anne'™s Hospital (Gina, RN), Dr. Jeffrey Muler, HOA staff, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
