Cory Mitchell Stevenson passed away in the early morning hours of May 24, 2023, from complications of congenital heart defect. Cory lived life to the fullest and touched many lives during his short life of 39 years. He graduated from Lake High School in 2002, graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor's in Accounting Degree. He worked at Schupan Aluminum and Plastic Sales as Ohio Regional Manager and was hoping to retire from this wonderful company.
He married his junior high sweetheart, Bethany Shortridge on June 27th, 2008 in Perrysburg. He treated her like a queen and they had a true love of a lifetime. She survives with their three beautiful children, Colton, Jett, and Iris, for whom he would do anything. He coached soccer and tee ball with his boys and went to all their school functions. His favorite hobbies were golf, camping, riding roller coasters with Colton, Michigan sports with Jett, and having daddy/daughter dates with Iris. Cory's true love was Bethany, his family, and spending time with his extended family.
He was known for his love of playing bass. Playing as a teenager in the band Nonetheless, he also was in the high school band. He then played bass in the music ministry at CedarCreek Church where he loved to lead others in worship. He helped raise money for the Oregon Schools by serving as a Board of Director Member of the Oregon Schools Foundation. In short, Cory shared his love of Christ with everyone in words and actions.
Those who passed before him: great-grandparents Millimen and Smith, grandparents Sherlyn and Robert Millimen, and Clyde and Betty Stevenson. Great aunts Karen Millimen and Nancy (Chuck) Myers. Great uncles Jay (Betty) Smith and Monty (Dorothy) Smith. Great aunts still living Pam Shepard and Kim (Dave) Loosemore.
In addition to his wife Bethany and their children, Cory is also survived by his parents, Jim (Denise) Stevenson and Terri (William) Fleitz, father and mother-in-law, Rick and Kathy Shortridge, brothers, Brad (Leann), James (Laura), Andrew, Brian (Monica), sister, Jaclynn; brother-in-law, Luke (Sara) Shortridge, stepbrothers, Shane and Ryan (Jessica) stepsisters Katy, Emilee, Abby, and Danielle; uncles, Robert (Chay), Mel (Holly), Jay, Pat (Shelly) and Spencer (Jessica) Millimen, Leroy (Sue); aunts, Bev (Justin) Baker, Betty (Paul) Brock; nephews, Jackson and Asa Shortridge, Isisah, Titus, Emmett, and Henry Stevenson; niece Atalaya Shortridge; step nephews Weston, Austin, and Kaden Fleitz, step nieces Hayley and Grace McCoy; Isabelle and Ivy Fleitz. Cory is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Family and friends may gather for visitation on Thursday, June 1st from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at CedarCreek Church, 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551. His funeral service will also be held at the church, on Friday, June 2nd at 11:00 am, with Pastor Ed Bellner, officiating. Cory's family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am on Friday.
