Cynthia York of Woodhaven, Michigan passed away at Beaumont Trenton Hospital on January 30, 2024.
Born on June 1, 1947 in Wyandotte, Michigan to William and Helen (Ragen) Smith. She attended St. Francis Cabrini Elementary and high school in Allen Park where she graduated with honors in 1965. She had a desire to pursue a career in nursing enrolled at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, MI. She graduated with her Associates Degree in science in 1967. She continued her education at Madonna University receiving her Bachelor's Degree in science in 1969. She continued on to graduate school at University of Detroit Mercy receiving her Master's Degree in science and her RN specializing in psychiatric care.
After graduate school she worked as a psychiatric nurse at various hospitals and medical centers across southeast Michigan until 1999 when she started working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a medical auditor. She officially retired in 2008.
During her life, she undeniably enjoyed the finer things in life such as fine art and designer fashion. She also LOVED Elvis Presley and a lot of classic Motown music.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her ex-husband, Randall York.
She is survived by her son, Grayson York; daughter-in-law, Samantha; grandson, Elliot; best friends, Phyllis and Walter Lupo; and neighbors, who were as close as family, Jeff and Lisa Attard and their daughters.
Cynthia requested to not have a service at this time but the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
