Dale A. Hecklinger, 80, of Oregon, OH went home to be with his Lord on January 31, 2007 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Toledo, OH on August 1, 1926 to Albert and Gertrude (Ackerman) Hecklinger. Dale enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoying bowling, golf, his church family and lots of friends. Dale was a wonderful husband to Martha for almost 50 years. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He could often be found being a spectator at his grandchildren's sporting events or cheering for Ohio State.
Dale, along with brother Don, and cousin Bob, owned and operated the Hecklinger Greenhouse for many years. He worked at the greenhouse for 64 years and had the privilege of continuing to work alongside his son Mark, after he took over the family business. Dale and his brother Don, were also owners of Dale & Don's Drive-in Restaurant in Oregon during the 1950's. He was a member of Heritage Christian Church, Oregonian Club, East Toledo Club, YMCA Century Club, FFA and the Toledo Area Vegetable Grower's Association..
Surviving are his wife, Martha; daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Burson; sons, Edward and Mark (Lisa) Hecklinger; sisters, Magdalene (William) Fischhaber and Marjorie (Ernest) Bollinger; grandchildren, Jacob, Jason and Karli Hecklinger, Lexa, Ryan, Logan and Mason Hecklinger, T.J., Jared and Jamey Burson. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don.
Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home 440 S. Coy Rd. at Starr Ave. on Monday, February 5, 2007 from 2-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Heritage Christian Church on Tuesday at 11 am. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Heritage Christian Church, Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
