Daniel N. Christian, 69, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009, in The Toledo Hospital. Dan was born in Toledo on March 16, 1940, to Lester and Helen (Mahoney) Christian and was a 1958 graduate of Waite High School. He served as a Toledo policeman for 28 years before his retirement in 1996. Dan was also the owner and operator of Memorial and Crown Printing for many years. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Toledo Police Patrolman's Association, Eagles, Moose and the Knights of Columbus. Dan was a big sports enthusiast, playing for both the Green Oak and Knights of Columbus softball teams. He was a long time member of the Toledo Area Horseshoe League and was a regular bowler at the Toledo Sports Center. Dan's favorite pastime was following all of his children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting activities. He was also a big fan of the Red Wings, Notre Dame football and was a Mud Hens season ticket holder. Every Halloween you could count on Dan's famous Chili which he made for family and friends. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine; sons, Greg (Jill) and Jeff (Kathy Coombs) Christian; daughter, Cherie (David) Stout; sisters, Joyce (Richard) Lester and Judy (Joe) Zargo; grandchildren, Kacy, Kylee, Kendyl, Nathan Christian, Nicole (Jeremy) Wilkins and Derrick (Ashley) Stout; great- grandchildren, Kale and Carson Wilkins and Riley Stout; daughter-in-law, Cindy Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Martha Stiles. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Avenue. Scripture services will be held at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be begin on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White Street, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Danny's memory be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
