Daniel James Quisno was called home on October 4, 2021 at the age of 65. He was the best friend and loving husband of Anna M. (Shultz).
Danny was born on April 9, 1956 at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio to Barbara (Marlow) and James (Jim) Quisno. His parents both preceded him in death.
He attended Oakdale Elementary, Waite and Macomber. He then graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton Oklahoma on September 8, 1975 while serving in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged as CPL E-4 March 20, 1980. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct medal, Marksman Hand Grenade and Sharpshooter M-16.
He received Diplomas or certificates of completion from: Belsaw Institute for small engine and service and repair July 24, 1979; top of his class at RETS Electronic Schools for Climate Control Technology June 19, 1981; MTA Diesel Mechanics, where he had the highest grade average November 15, 1986; Refrigeration Services Engineer Society 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993; Ice-o-matic Cuber and Flaker April 3, 1990. He held his heating and refrigeration licenses through the city of Toledo for many years.
His first job was delivering the newspaper. He worked as a short order cook at the Palace in Northwood. After his time in the military, he was a canline mechanic at Crown Cork and Seal from 1978 – 1981. He worked for Commercial Refrigeration from October 1981 – 1984. He next worked for A-One Multi Service Tool Rental from 1984 - 1986 as a general mechanic. He returned to Commercial Refrigeration in 1986 – 1991. He then got a job in May of 1991 for Kroger in their facility engineering department where he continued for 21 years. His last place of employment was for R & R food equipment before retiring just before the age of 62.
Over the years, Danny enjoyed many activities such as swimming at the quarry, going to Cedar Point, roller skating, playing arcade games, shooting pool, foosball, darts, corn hole, horseshoes, softball, chess and board games. He went snowmobiling and liked a good snowball fight. He started with radio control cars years ago which evolved into his lifetime passion. He ran slot cars, flew RC airplanes and RC helicopters too. He raced both electric and gas. Danny joined clubs like TARCAR, ROAR and 1/8 racers. He has always loved electronics, be it Nintendo games, computer gaming, Ipod, Ipad, Iwatch..any new gadget out, he wanted it. He always got the walkie talkies out and recently got into being an amateur radio operator. He always enjoyed spending time with family. He had to be early and stayed well after everyone else left. He loved his momma and missed her. He enjoyed watching his kids and then grandchildren participate in their sporting/cheer/dance/school activities. He always asked his wife of her traveling adventures that he refused to go on. He was content staying home alone. He liked to watch football games. He enjoyed NASCAR and even went to the Indianapolis 500. He was very proud of his son, Daniel, whom also served our country in the U.S.M.C. He was proud of his niece Tanisha when she got her nursing degree. She was like a third child. He loved go-kart racing and was currently looking to get the kart ready for next summer. He thought all 5 grandkids were now old enough to go play on them. He was looking forward to creating new memories with them. He bought a bicycle after he retired which he liked to ride at Pearson Park and around the neighborhood, better than the stationary bike he had. He also enjoyed playing basketball with the kids. He let the kids race on his computer and play war games with him. He prayed for his family continually. He was a good family man.
While he had quit attending church, his faith in Christ never waivered. He always shared his beliefs.
He loved being an uncle and always asked Anna who was doing what, even if he didn't remember correct names. He had 27 nieces and nephews.
Danny was the eldest child of 9. His parents had him and Star. His mom had 5 children in her second marriage, while his dad had 2 more sons in his 2nd marriage.
Danny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anna; his children, Daniel (Christine) Quisno and Erika Quisno; by his 5 grandchildren, Cameran, SuRyah, Bentley, Dazjanae and Jobari.
Additionally, Dan is survived by his siblings, Star (Jeff) Liford, Freddy (Debbie Faust) Cieply, Allen Cieply, Barbie (Ken Schings) Cieply, Heidi (Ken Jordan) Cieply, Holly (Josh) Rowe, Aaron Quisno, Abel (Tiffany) Quisno, multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will precide at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday October 20, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Echo Meadows Church of Christ, 2905 Starr Ave. Oregon, Ohio.
