Darol R. Murphy, 73, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on December 11, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with family by his side. Darol was born in Fremont, Ohio, on May 13, 1950, to Willis and Bettye (Clewlow) Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carol (Jon) Steeves and Bonnie (John) Geyer. He is survived by his brother, Earl (Laura) Murphy, his children, Kyle (Emily) Murphy and Shannon (David) Guy, and four grandsons who share his fun-loving spirit.

Darol was employed at the BP Toledo Refinery for 29 years, retiring in 2014. A Vietnam veteran, Darol served in the 1st Air Cavalry Division and was later a member of the Navy Reserve.Darol loved to scuba dive and play the blues. The Yorktown Village "pool boy" spent his retirement years bouncing between the Lake Erie Shores, the Florida Keys, and Cozumel, Mexico. You could often find him boating on his Boston Whaler, photographing coral reefs, or rocking the stage on his harmonica.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel 440 S. Coy Road with visitation to follow until 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the conservation efforts of the Coral Reef Alliance at coral.org.
