Darrel B. Sabin, 84, of Toledo, Ohio, and formerly of Martin, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at Lake Park Care Center, Sylvania. Darrel was born in Martin, Ohio on August 20, 1929 to Lloyd and Ethel (Hellwig) Sabin. Darrel worked as an industrial consultant for many years with Surface Combustion. He received 6 U.S. Patents for his work in furnace and industrial design. Darrel enjoyed aviation and maintained a commercial pilot license. He authored three books on his family genealogy and contributed copies to the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. Darrel is survived by his brother, Ronald (Nellie) Sabin; niece, Jody (Scott) DeVecht, nephews, Bruce Sabin, Doug (Jocelyn) Sabin, John Hutchinson and Jeff (Maria) Hutchinson; along with many loving family members. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Elaine Hutchinson. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 11:30 am until time of memorial service at 12:30 pm. Private interment will take place at Elliston Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Ebeid Hospice.
