David C. Allen, 87, of Oregon, OH passed away August 5, 2009 in his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 24, 1921 to Ralph and Bessie (Hasselman) Allen. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and flew B14 Bombers during World War II. He was employed by SOHIO for 30 years before retiring as a chemist. David was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a member of the Oregon Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth; daughter, Glenna (Jerry) Rife; sons, Mark, Howard (Debbie) and Harold Allen; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Weaver; sisters, Eleanor Patton, Marion Hansen and Doris Arehart; brothers, Robert and Howard Allen. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
