David S. Boyd, 68, of Northwood, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008, in Bay Park Community Hospital. Mr. Boyd was born in Toledo on September 2, 1940, to David C. and Velma (Merren) Boyd. He worked as an engineer for CSX railroad for 40 years before his retirement in 2002. Since his childhood David loved to play softball, especially fast pitch where he was an outstanding pitcher for many area teams. He also served as coach for his daughters' softball teams. Mr. Boyd was a longstanding member of St. Jerome Church in Walbridge. Surviving are his loving wife, Frances; sons, Patrick (Carol), Timothy (Kristen), Michael, Jeffrey (Mary), and Christopher (Jennifer) Boyd; daughters, Beth (Dan) Michel, Kathryn Boyd, Margaret Boyd and Emily (Michael) Caldwell; sisters, Elaine Hoefflin and Judy (Bob) Young; 11 grandchildren, David, Adam, Thomas, Alyssa, Rachel, Jack, Andrew, Eliana, Kayla, Matthew and Cian. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Elizabeth. Friends and family may call in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury where visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 9 p.m. Scripture services will begin on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. and continue to St. Jerome Church for the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at noon. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
