David D. Smith, 40 of Findlay, Ohio passed away in his residence on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. David was born on September 6, 1977 to Martin and Lynda (Kowalka) Smith. David reached out to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday in search of peace. He was a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed greatly. David was a one-of-a-kind human being who will be remembered by anyone who knew him. Personable, quick-witted, and warm, he touched many lives throughout his many years working in restaurants and sales. A man of many far-ranging tastes, views, and opinions, he loved what he loved, and wanted you to love it, too. Whether it was quoting one of his thousand "top five movies of all-time," reciting a favorite George Carlin comedy routine, or launching into one of his hilarious impressions, his enthusiasm was infectious and he had a way of making those around him happy, even in times when happiness eluded him. David adored his children, who were his greatest pride in life. He loved Detroit Tigers baseball, competing in the HAHA fantasy basketball league (crowned World Champion in 2001), trivia nights, road trips, drinking Tim Horton's coffee in large amounts, and poker. He also passionately loved music, most notably Prince, for whom he was the artist's unofficial "number one fan."
David is survived by his children, Claire and Baron; mother, Lynda Saneholtz; brother, Dean (Wendy) Smith; grandmother, Suzanne Kowalka; nephews and nieces, Ian, Scarlett, Isabelle, Jackson, and Harper. David was preceded in death by his father, Marty; grandparents, Donald Kowalka, Alton and Wilma Smith; uncle, Lee Kowalka.
Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 4-8 pm and where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
