David "Dave" Donald DuPont, 61, a 1999 BP Refinery retiree, departed this life Sunday, February 26, 2006, in warm and sunny Florida.
He was born in Toledo, on April 10, 1944, to loving parents, Donald and Victoria DuPont. Dave was an inspiration to all that knew him for his courageous fight, strength, determination, and genuine love of fun and memorable times. He graduated from Macomber Vocational High in 1962. Dave joined the United States Army National Guard in 1965 and was honorably discharged to the Reserves in 1971. He began employment at Standard Oil Company in 1966, which later became BP Oil. Dave remained at the Refinery until his retirement in 1999. He married his true love, Mary Peters, on September 6, 1968. She preceded him in death November of 1997. He lived life to the fullest, finding joy in a variety of things such as: travel, fishing, automobiles, boating, NASCAR, and the mechanics of anything! "If you ain't the lead dog, the scenery never changes!" Those that knew and loved Dave will experience a void, as he was always there for everyone. He will be remembered by his friends and family for the laughter and special times shared. Surviving are his devoted son, Brett; Megan, Brett's significant other; his mother Victoria DuPont; his Sister Pat (Don) Granger; a host of aunts uncle, nieces and nephews, many friends; and a very supportive loving aunt Ada Vermett in Florida. Dave was preceded in death by his father Donald L; his wife Mary A. and his nephew Mark Granger. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 2 to 9 pm in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in David's memory to be given to the American Heart Association or Team Greyhound Adoption of Ohio, 2242 Elks Run, Toledo OH 43617.
