David Edward Dayton 79, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2019 with his family by his side. Dave was born in Toledo, Ohio to Delbert Sr. and Dorothy (DeLisle) Dayton. Dave had worked as a manager for Johnson's Furniture and Samsen Furniture Stores. He also managed restaurants for the McDonald's Corporation. Dave owned and operated Champion Services until his retirement. He then enjoyed delivering flowers for Beth Allen's Florist. Dave was a member of the Oregonian Club and served on the Oregon Recreation Board for many years. He volunteered his time for many summers, to the Special Olympics. Dave also faithfully helped with Food for Thought at St. Paul's Church. Dave could be found on a softball diamond and spent countless summers coaching and developing the skills of many girls, including his two daughters, in softball. His impact is still felt today. He was a lifelong, faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and was the keeper of the church for many years. His greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren participate in many sports and band events. Surviving are his loving wife, Beverly; children, Kimberly (Michael) Abbott, Troy Dayton, Beth Ann (Kirk) Kuhlman; grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Trent Kuhlman, Katelyn and Nicholas Abbott; siblings, Dr. Delbert Jr. (Marjorie) Dayton, Darlene Lane, and Duane Dayton; many nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 2, at 12:00 noon in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 798 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio, where his family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
