Obituary

Dean J. Carpenter, 78, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Lyons, Ohio on October 1, 1931 to Thomas and Florence (Barrett) Carpenter. Dean was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War as a corporal in the Airborne Infantry. He was street commissioner for Harbor View in the 1950's, and was employed at Customflex Inc. for 30 plus years, where he built sailboats from molded fiberglass. He then worked for American Custom Industries until his retirement in 1994. Dean's hobbies included fishing and bowling. Surviving are his daughters, Deanna Carpenter (Larry Hartford), Debbie (Scott) Roberts and Jayne (Chris) Sakelaris; grandchildren, David and Danielle Munguia, Jeremy (Jessica) Schmidlin, Taylor and Joshua Roberts, Chris, Andrew and Matthew Sakelaris; great grandchildren, Zachary and Mikaila Schmidlin; sisters, Evelyn (Mart) Bischoff and Shirley Gale; and many nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne, Richard and Frank. A memorial service will be conducted at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. where the family will greet friends beginning at 12 Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Visitation: Saturday, 12Noon - 1:00 p.m. Services: Saturday, 1:00 p.m.
