Dean T. Deniston, 89, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at St. Charles/Mercy Hospital. He was born in Spencerville, Ohio on May 4, 1918 to Ralph and Pearl (Townsend) Deniston. He was a US Army veteran serving during World War II. Dean was awarded for his bravery the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, a Combat Infantry Badge, an American Defense Service Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Theatre Campaign Ribbon and WW II Victory Ribbon. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and employed with Lehmanns Greenhouse in Temperance, MI before his retirement in 1983. Dean was an Ohio State Alumni and an avid Buckeye fan. Mr. Deniston also enjoyed gardening, art and music.
Surviving are his sons, Neal (Marsha) of Defiance and Alun (Carol) of Bowling Green; daughter-in-law, Pat Deniston; half-sisters, Mary Ruth (Ed) Iannucci and Beth Ann (Michael) Ball; grandchildren, Randy, Michelle, Steven, Timothy, Evan and David and great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Sydney and Owen. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; son, Bruce; sister, Phyllis Deniston and step-mother, Ruth Deniston.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2 until 9 pm.. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Rd. on Monday at 11:00 am with interment following in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Deans memory are asked to consider the Lutheran Home at Toledo, Garden or Library Funds.
