Dennis J. Shepherd, 78, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 29, 1947 to Robert and Doris (Glass) Shepherd. Dennis graduated from Bowsher High School and started his working career at his parents' service station. He married the love of his life, Jennifer (Andros) on March 12, 1976. Dennis worked as a machine operator for Barron Steel until its closure and then for Norplas retiring in 2018. Dennis was an avid Detroit Lions fan, and possibly the #1 Toledo Walleye fan, where he had been a season ticket holder for many years. He also enjoyed being outdoors, boating and fishing on Lake Erie, but what he cherished most were his kids and grandkids.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jennifer; children, Laura Ramirez, Jacob (Alyssa) Shepherd, Joshua Shepherd, Jonathon Shepherd, Phyllis Shepherd; grandchildren, Logan, Christian, Maria, Keegan, Nova and Ziggy; sister, Patty (Martin) Mock; and brother-in-law, Joseph Andros. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Jim Andros; sister, Laura Fuehrer; and sisters-in-law, Ann and Joyce Andros.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, 43616 on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Dennis' name may be directed to Lucas County Special Olympics. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the Dr.'s and nurses at the Bay Park Hospital ER and ICU for the compassionate care they provided to their loved one.
