Diego Villegas, age 92, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021 and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Paula Garcia de Villegas. Together they had 12 children: Valente, Juan, Merced, Taide, Pablo, Eulogia, Carmelo, Juvelino, María, Rosa, Elena, Valente; more than 50 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. He was born February 21, 1929 in La Mora, Guanajuato, Mexico to Fidel Medina and Plutarco Villegas. For most of his life he worked at Hirzel Canning Company in Northwood and Pemberville, Ohio. Diego was amiable, humble, and hardworking. He dedicated much of his time to farming, landscaping, and spending time outdoors. Diego loved going to family celebrations and gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and spending time with him was always delightful. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert and Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon, Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Monday, October 11, 2021 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 728 South St. Clair Street, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 11:30 am. Interment: Lake Township Cemetery
