IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores M. (Bunck)
Kelly
August 10, 1929 – June 8, 2023
Dolores Kelly, 93, of Toledo, Ohio passed away June 8, 2023 at Ohio Living Swan Creek, where she had been a resident for the past several years. Dolores was born on August 10, 1929 to John and Jessie (Smarzynski) Bunck in the Lenk's Hill neighborhood in Toledo. She attended Nativity Catholic School and was a graduate of Libbey High School.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Dolores worked at the Rossford Ordinance Depot. She married Donald J. Kelly in 1956 and they enjoyed 53 years of loving marriage. In 1962, Dolores and Don began a wonderful adventure, when they opened Kelly's Fine Fashions on Main Street in East Toledo. The woman's clothing store was open for 15 years and Don and Dolores became very active in East Toledo activities and met many good friends during this time. Dolores also worked for 11 years as a billing clerk for Toledo Hospital, where she retired.
Dolores took time away from work to raise her family, first in East Toledo, and then in Oregon, Ohio where she lived for nearly 40 years. She was active with her children's athletic and club activities. When her children were in high school, she was involved in the Biretta Club at Cardinal Stritch High School, and volunteered for many of their fund raisers.
Dolores was a devout Catholic and was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church. More recently, she belonged to St. Pius X.
In her retirement years, Dolores and Don were active with the Public Employees Retirement Inc. #93 chapter where they were charter members. She also enjoyed vacations to Florida. Dolores and Don spent time visiting friends and relatives along both coasts of the Sunshine State during the winter months.
Dolores was very proud of her children and granddaughter. She was the best mom and grandma and will be remembered for her kindness and compassion. Although, her final years were challenging, Dolores lived a good life at Ohio Living Swan Creek where she received excellent care. She enjoyed attending mass, participating in activities, and taking rides around the beautiful campus. Dolores will be greatly missed by her family, care givers and many friends.
Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at Ohio Living Swan Creek and Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice for taking good care of Dolores in her final years.
Surviving are her loving children, Monica (Michael) Dansack, Donn Kelly of Minneapolis, MN, Matthew Kelly of Columbus; granddaughter, Emily Dansack; nieces, Patricia (Jaime) Coll and Jan (Richard) Crooker, of Kutztown, PA. She also leaves behind dozens of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews from the Kelly family, and many cousins.
