Dolores "Dee" Saunders, 70, born on May 15, 1936, to Charles and Luella Martin, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, after a short stay at Swan Creek Retirement Village. She married Donald H. Saunders on January 4, 1958, and he survives. She was a 1954 graduate of Libbey High School and attended the University of Toledo where she met her husband. Dee was a life-long member of Eastminster United Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and member of the Board of Deacons. She also served her church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and as a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, serving in numerous officer positions including president and Circle leader. Dee and her husband also served as Youth Group advisors for five years. Dee also had a great passion to serve her community. She was an active member of the St. Charles Mercy Hospital Auxiliary (serving as president 1996-97 and 1998-99) and the St. Charles Hospital Foundation (being an active and long-time member of the Crystal Ball and Annual Golf Outing Committees). In 2002, Dolores was honored as recipient of the Gift of Giving Award presented by the St. Charles Mercy Hospital Foundation. Dee, in conjunction with her husband, Don, created a scholarship at the University of Toledo for high school graduates in the Toledo area, east of the Maumee River. She was a lifetime member of the University of Toledo Alumni Association and a member of the University of Toledo's Presidents Club. In Dee's continual support of the University, her claim to fame came when she hit a "Hole-in-One" at the University of Toledo Hole in One scholarship contest in 1970. Dee was foremost a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very active in her children's lives at school, in sports, and in their careers.
