Don "Tony" Schwamberger, Sr., 81, of Millbury, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003 at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center. Don was born in Millbury on May 30, 1922 to Grover and Hazel (Newell) Schwamberger. He was a 1940 graduate of Lake High Schoool where he played basketball and baseball. Don was an Army W.W. II Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater from 1940-45. He also was a Purple Heart recipient. On February 7, 1948, Don married Lillie Clapsaddle, who survives him. Don had worked for the Jeep Corporation from 1962 until retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Millbury, a member of the North Toledo Pigeon Racing club, UAW-MESA, VFW Post 2510 and south Toledo DAV.
Besides his wife, Lillie, Don is also survived by his children, Lily "Kay" (Tim) DeLong, Don (Debbie) Schwamberger, Jr; grandchildren, Kari (Alan) Conkle, Kelli (Scott) Hosso, Katie DeLong, Christina Schuler, Kurt, Heather Schwamberger; great granddaughters, Brooke and Amy Conkle; brothers, Elmer (Marie), Glen (Marianne); sisters, Hazel (Don) Tabbert, Fay (Sam) Bolander; sisters-in-law, Judy & Madelyn Schwamberger. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Newell, Edgar, Robert, John, Jim, and sister, Bertha.
Family and friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., Millbury, Ohio where vistation will be Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. and where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Don's memory be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Millbury, Ohio.
