Donald E. Boomer, 84, of Maumee, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on August 11, 1925 to Lloyd and Martha (Buck) Boomer. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the bronze star. He had been employed as an operating engineer for the City of Toledo. In addition to working for the city, Don owned and operated Boomer Electric. He retired in 1981. Don was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Maumee Eagles and the Moose Lodge in Toledo.
Surviving are his daughters, Pam (Terry) Szmania and Heather Reno; grandchildren, Jason, Jordan, Justin Boomer, Josh Sominski, Autumn Scholl, Keith, Scott and Nickolas Szmania; great grandchildren, Damien, Eric and Samantha Wolff, Alivia and Haley Reno, Samantha, Michala and Dakota Scholl and Tiegan Boomer. Don was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Frances Boomer.
There will be no visitation or service. Inurnment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel.
Don will be dearly missed by his family and many, many friends.
