Don Holmes, 83, of Oregon, OH passed away June 15, 2004. He was born in Albany, New York on July 6, 1920 to Edward and Elizabeth (Conkey) Holmes. Don was a WWII Army veteran and the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed by Conrail as a railroad conductor retiring in 1982. Don was a member of the Purple
Heart Club and Stanley Gun Club. He also loved boating, fishing, reading and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife of 46 years Maxine, children, Theresa L. Jurrus, Don (Karen) Holmes Jr., Bill (Laurie) Holmes; grandchildren Mickey (Joe) Gill, Jeff (Sally) Jurrus, Craig Holmes, Eric Holmes, Brandy Holmes, Danielle Holmes, Alexandra Lozinski, Austin Lozinski, Abby Gill and Josh Jurrus. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, June 18, 2004 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 19 at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. will two hour visitation prior. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy in Don's name are asked to consider First St. John Lutheran Church.
