Donald F. Hurst, 70, of Northwood passed away peacefully after a long struggle surrounded by his family on August 17, 2007, in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio inpatient unit in Perrysburg. Mr. Hurst was born in Toledo on April 16, 1937, to Arch and Dosie (Brooks) Hurst. Donald was a US Air Force veteran. He was employed for 37 years at the Libbey Owen Ford Glass Company before his retirement in 1992. He then went to work for Meijers for 7 years, retiring in 2000. Don had been a "Ham" radio operator for many years with his call sign being KA8ENK. He was a volunteer fireman at the Northwood Volunteer Fire Station #2 and a member of the Northwood Police Auxiliary. His memberships also included Paragon Lodge #788 F&AM. Surviving are his beloved wife Barbara; son, Gregory Hurst; daughter, D'Ann Gregory; sister, Norma Newell; grandchildren, Brittanie, Brandyn, Bryan, Milissa, Mindi and Melanie. He will be missed by his faithful companion and dog, Coco. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where visitation will be Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Donald's memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
