Donald M. 'œDoc' Nyitray, 77, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Doc was born in Wyandote, Michigan on August 29, 1935 to Michael and Mary (Gall) Nyitray. He was a 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School. On March 23, 1968, he married Karen Fialkoski. Doc was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Post Office, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed perch fishing on Lake Erie and watching NASCAR; especially Mark Martin. Doc was a member of the German American Festival Society and loved working at the festival. He enjoyed lunch with his fellow post office retirees and traveling with his family to Fort Myers Beach. His true passion was attending his grandsons sporting events.
Doc is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen; daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Lee and Kathy Nyitray; grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea Lee; and sister, Judy Croci. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Nyitray.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 12:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
