Donald J Pitzen, 70, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016. Don was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 22, 1945 to John and Bernadine (Langton) Pitzen. On August 27, 1981, he married Janice Kennedy. Don was employed with Ohio Bell for over 30 years. In later years, he worked with McCarthy Builders and with his longtime friends Bob and Ted Thomas of Magee East Marina. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a dedicated sports fan. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren who brought him much joy. Don is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janice H.; children, Steve (Diana) Pitzen, Amy Pitzen-Suto, Jenifer (Steve) Place, Tammy (Jacque Varty) Fairchild, Tina (Dave) Heilman and Kerry Jerew; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jacklyn (Chuck) Smith and Carolyn (Bob) Jones; sister-in-law, Nancy Pitzen; along with many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tom Pitzen and James Pitzen. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 11:00 am until time of memorial service at 3:00 pm. Private interment will be held.
