Obituary

Donald S. Brown, 74, of Oregon, OH and Naples, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2004, in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1930, in Battle Creek, MI. Donald was the son of Thomas and Leocadia (Szymanski) Brown. He was a veteran of the US Marines serving in the Korean War. Don was employed by CSX Railroad as an inspector for 32 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the former Topp Flight Flying Club making his first solo flight on June 28, 1968. Don also was a member of the Ohio Chapter of the Chosin Few, the Blue Horizon Flying Club, VFW Post 3265 Point Place, where he was a former commander, VFW Post 2984 Northwood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a former commander of the Lucas County Council. Donald was an avid gardener and golfer. He spent the winters in Naples, FL. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Shirley; children, Thomas (Sandra), Oregon, OH, Dennis (Patricia), Walbridge, OH, Jeffrey, Oregon, OH, and Steven (Tammy), Moline, OH; grandchildren, Kristi, Andrea, Scott, Lacy and Lyndsey. His parents preceded him in death. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Friday, December 10, 2004 from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to Holy Rosary Church for 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Donald's memory can be made to Holy Rosary Church. Visitation: Visitation Times Friday, 2-9 p.m. Coy Road Chapel
