Donald Whetsel, 82, of Toledo, OH passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2004. He was born on August 14, 1921 to Rev. Harry and Golda (Glasgow) Whetsel. Don was a WWII Army military police veteran where he served seven and a half years of service and earned a purple heart. Don was employed by the Durham, North Carolina police department for 5 years. After working in North Carolina, he returned to Ohio and retired from Toth Industries, as a machinist after working 18 years. Donald was a life time member of the American Legion Post #338 Bradner, Ohio but first and foremost Don was a loving husband, provider, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Donald is survived by his wife of 33 years Donna; children, Ruthann (Jim) Dile, Dianne Orth, Richard (Cindy)Manteuffel, Arnold Manteuffel, Tina (Randy) Rink, Virginia (Joe) DER-Cole, Cindy Whetsel, Donald Whetsel II, Tom (Kris) Whetsel; brothers, Ewin and Arthur Whetsel; sisters Betty Johnson and Frances Krieger;
brother-in-laws, Paul (Laura) Walters and Ken Stieben; 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Rechin; brothers Chester, Tom and Harry Jr.; great-grandson
baby Randy Rink. Donald will also be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2004 from 2-9 p.m. at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home
Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon with American Legion services at 7pm. Funeral services will be
conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the American
Legion Post #338.
