Donald E. Willis, 80, of Walbridge, OH and formerly of east Toledo, OH passed away April 5, 2006 in his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 16, 1925 to Emanuel and Caroline (Bensman) Willis. Don served in the Army's 75th division during WWII and received the Purple heart for wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Arthur Daly American Legion Post #334. He was employed as a service technician for 33 years retiring from the AB Dick Company in 1982. Don was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan and enjoyed playing slow pitch softball. He also enjoyed time spent with his family and spending summers at his cottage on Catawba Island.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Elaine Willis; son, Robert (Lisa) Willis of Temperance, MI; daughter, Carol (Jeff) Pickerel of Oregon, OH; Brother, Bob (Ikie) Willis; sister, Betty Willis; grandchildren, Shelly (Pat) Lesniewski, Amy (Brian) Muir, Jenny (Mike) Konst, Todd Ausmus, Jamie Pickerel, Joseph and Robert Habbouche; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; Aunts, Margaret Bensman and Mary Ellen (Ralph) Diefenbach; uncle, Bill Bensman and special family, Joe and Joan Fox.. Don was preceded in death by is parents.
Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday from 2-9 pm with Arthur Daly services at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 10:30 am with interment following in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Don's memory may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
