Donna J. Nelson, 86, of Oregon and Fremont Ohio, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Donna was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 6, 1929 to Perry and Ola (Brown) Snyder. She was employed by NAMSA for 13 years before retiring in 1995. She also worked part time for the Oregon Board of Education. Donna enjoyed Crocheting, Yahtzee, Euchre Rummikub and was an avid bowler, once bowling a 299. In her spare time, she assisted running the Nelson Turkey Farm and made wedding cakes. She was an extremely loving and caring individual. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very involved in her life. Donna enjoyed watching their sporting events, rarely missing a game. She was not only known as a grandmother to her family, but to many others as well. Donna was nicknamed the "Candy Grandma," because she always had all types of candy readily available. Donna is survived by her children, Dennis (Pamela) Nelson, Douglas (Mary) Nelson and Diann (Mick) Lento; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grand daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale Nelson; and siblings, Betty Snyder, Floyd Snyder, Dorothy McKibben and Lillian O'Connor. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 29 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Williston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, National Diabetes Association or the charity of donor's choice.
