Doris M. Danekind, 92, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Doris was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 10, 1923, to Ernest and Marie (Donahue) Allmendinger. On July 22, 1944, she married the love of her life, Warren Danekind. Doris earned a bachelor of education degree from the University of Toledo and was a teacher with Lake Local Schools, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First St. John Lutheran Church where she was active with the women of the church. Doris was a founding member and past president of the Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society and member of the Washtenaw County Historical Society. For many years, Doris volunteered with the G.B.U., was an active member, of the Spade & Trowel Garden Club, and member of P.E.O. Doris enjoyed traveling the world with her husband. She was an avid supporter of the arts and enjoyed music. Her true passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly.
Doris is survived by her children, John (Donna) Danekind, Gwen (Tim) Willson, Martin (Yvonne) Danekind, and Gayle Martinez; grandchildren, Sean, Carrie, Nathaniel, Tyler, Luke, Tasha, Asa, Eddie, and Andy; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Eleanor, Elijah, Lillian, Elise, Cora, and Jace, and sister, Marian Zwinck; along with many loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, November 22, 2015, from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. in First St. John Lutheran Church, 2471 Seaman Road, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 12 pm. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to First St. John Lutheran Church or Oregon Jerusalem Historical Society.
