Dorothy M. Heibeck, 91, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Point Place, Ohio on March 10, 1923 to Michael and Clara (Leutz) Stader. Dorothy was graduate of Waite High School a member of the first graduating class of the Riverside Hospital Nursing School in 1945. Dorothy served as a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurses Corps at Women'™s and Children'™s Hospital. On August 15, 1953, she married Charles Heibeck. Dorothy worked as a registered nurse at various hospitals in the Toledo area and retired from the Lutheran Home at Toledo in 1976. While at the Lutheran Home, Dorothy was instrumental in the publication of the resident'™s newspaper 'œChit Chat', founded the Sunshine Card Club, and served as past president of the resident council. Her memberships included: Northwood Church of God, Golden Eagles, Riverside Nurses Alumni, East Toledo Citizens Council, East Toledo Parks and Recreation Board, T.O.Y.H.A. Hockey Program, and was active with the bowling and square dancing programs with the mentally handicapped. Dorothy was a den mother for 11 years with Cub Scout Pack 45 and participated in the Harvard University Nurses Study.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Charles Honan, Michael Heibeck, Jeffrey (Darla) Heibeck, and Robert (Kathy) Heibeck; grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Luke Bobby Jr., Stefan, Amanda, Brandon, and Candice; along with many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles; and sister, Phyllis Lehnert.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Lutheran Home at Toledo Chapel, 131 N. Wheeling Street, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 am. Private interment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Community Residential Services, Lutheran Home at Toledo, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
